We’re Matt and Taylor Hollingsworth, and Hollingsworth Homes is ours — based in Brooklet, serving Statesboro, Bulloch and surrounding counties. Here’s a little about how we got here and why we build the way we do.
Where We Come From
We’re not a national company that planted a flag in Georgia. This is home. We live here, our family is here, and the people we build for are our neighbors — folks we see at the store, at church, at our kids’ events. That changes how you do the work, because your name is on the house and you’re going to run into the family who lives in it.
Every custom home starts with a story, and ours starts at Georgia Southern University in 2011. That's where Matt and Taylor Hollingsworth first met, just before Matt transferred to the Georgia Institute of Technology. He earned his bachelor's and master's degree in mechanical engineering there. Taylor earned her degree in business, and once both had diplomas in hand, they chose Statesboro as home.
After they married in 2016, Matt and Taylor started investing in real estate, flipping houses and renovating apartments around the area. Every project taught them something new about what it takes to deliver a finished product people are proud of.
In 2020, with guidance from a mentor and friend who built homes, they made the leap into new construction. Matt earned his general contractor license by the end of 2022. When their first custom home contract came in, Taylor left her marketing career to join the business full time, and Matt followed a year later in 2023. From there, things took off.
Today, Hollingsworth Homes brings together Matt's engineering mind and Taylor's business and marketing background. That combination shows up in every build: a precise process, clear communication, and a home made for the family who'll live in it.
Why We Started Hollingsworth Homes
We started this company because we believed building a custom home could feel different than its reputation. Too many people brace for the experience — the runaround, the surprise costs, the builder who goes quiet for weeks. We thought it could be clear, organized, and even enjoyable, if someone simply chose to run it that way.
So we built the company around the things we’d want as clients ourselves: clear communication, real numbers, and a builder who’s actually reachable. That’s not a marketing line. It’s the whole reason we do this instead of something easier.
